Would you like more insight into the quality of your Ziggo cable connection than simply knowing whether the internet is online? With Ziggo Modem, you can add supported Ziggo Sagemcom modems directly to Home Assistant.
The integration communicates locally with the modem. It does not use SmartWifi Web or an external Ziggo cloud service.
Monitor the DOCSIS connection
After installation, Home Assistant provides sensors for checking the cable connection, including:
- downstream power in dBmV;
- downstream SNR;
- upstream power;
- DOCSIS channel status;
- SC-QAM and OFDM errors;
- T3 timeouts;
- modem status and uptime;
- line stability;
- internet and cable outages;
- download and upload profiles.
This helps you see not only that the connection has a problem, but often also where the problem is located.
The integration can help identify unusual signal strength, poor SNR, unlocked channels, upstream problems, and elevated error values.
Useful during outages
Diagnostics are an important part of the integration. Home Assistant can track connection interruptions and completely failed modem updates.
You can also generate a detailed diagnostics file from Home Assistant. Sensitive values such as passwords, tokens, local IP addresses, serial numbers, and MAC addresses are automatically redacted.
If one modem API endpoint fails, other available modem entities continue to work where possible.
Installation through HACS
The integration can be installed as a custom repository through HACS.
After installation, open:
Settings → Devices & services → Add integration → Ziggo Modem
Then configure the local modem and the required credentials.
Open source
Ziggo Modem is an open-source Home Assistant custom integration published under the MPL-2.0 license.
It uses an undocumented local modem API and was primarily developed and tested for Ziggo Sagemcom modems. Modem firmware updates may affect the available API endpoints and measurements.
This project is independently developed and is not affiliated with Ziggo.
